8th Annual Latine Graduate Celebration

Grossmont College will celebrate its 8th Annual Latine Graduate Celebration, hosted by the Latine Alliance.

On Tuesday, June 3, Grossmont College will celebrate its 8th Annual Latine Graduate Celebration, hosted by the Latine Alliance. The event will take place in the main quad on campus from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The celebration is more than just a ceremony; it is a cultural and community event recognizing the academic and personal journeys of Latine students at Grossmont College.

To participate in the event, students must register in advance. The deadline for registration is Friday, May 23. Interested students can sign up by completing the form available at https://forms.office.com. Registration is required to take part in the festivities, students planning to attend are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

Perla Lopez, Academic Senate President, shared details about the celebration during a recent graduation information session held on Zoom. She noted that nearly 600 students have been invited to the event and that it will feature keynote speakers. 

The celebration will include a variety of festive elements designed to honor the graduates. Attendees can look forward to live music, food, and awards presented to students for their hard work and dedication. It will be a gathering, offering graduates the chance to celebrate this important milestone with their peers, families, faculty, and friends.

This year’s event welcomes not only Spring 2025 prospective graduates but also students who graduated in Summer and Fall of 2024. It is an inclusive celebration meant to highlight the success of all Latine students who have reached this achievement. 

A limited number of stoles will be available, and they will only be given to those who attend the Latine Graduate Celebration. Students participating in the Puente program will receive their stoles at this event as well.

The 8th Annual Latine Graduate Celebration represents more than just academic achievement it is a tribute to culture, perseverance, and community. Students, families, and faculty members are encouraged to take part in the celebration.
